Maths

In Maths this week, the year 6 children have begun to look at fractions. The children started the week by learning how to simplify fractions using a fraction wall and division. At the end of the week, the children applied this knowledge to compare and order fractions with different denominators. 

English

In English this week, the children have began learning about explanation texts. This week the children have been immersed in a range of different explanation texts and have explored what makes a good explanation text. 

Topic 

To begin our new topic, this week, the children took part in a lamb's heart dissection. In the theory lesson, the children enjoyed learning about the function and parts of the heart. In the practical session, the children were able to hold a lamb's heart and watch a heart dissection.
