Bears Spring 1, Week 3

Date: 23rd Jan 2025 @ 7:39am

Take a look at the Brilliant Bears learning this week...

English

In Literacy this week, we are reading ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We enjoyed listening to the story and joining in with the repeated phrases. Then, for our writing task this week, we had a go at writing a recipe for making gingerbread. Godspower listened carefully to the words to identify the sounds he needed to write the instructions.

Maths

In Maths, we are learning about capacity. We looked at different containers that were ‘full’, ‘nearly full’, ‘half full, ‘nearly empty’ and ‘empty’. Then, we practiced using this language to give teddy bears different amounts for their tea party. Dalton did a great job remembering and applying the vocabulary.

We also carried out an investigation to discover which container held the most liquid for Finley the fish. We looked at a variety of containers in varying widths and heights and thought about which would hold the most. We then counted how many cups of water each one took to fill.

Topic

In our topic lesson, we followed our recipe, from this week’s writing task, to make our own Gingerbread Men. After mixing the ingredients together, the kitchen staff kindly baked these for us. Luckily our Gingerbread Men didn’t run away from us!

Star of the week – Theo! You have shown a great attitude in phonics and writing, working really hard in these sessions.
