Butterflies Autumn 1 Week 7
Date: 24th Oct 2024 @ 9:11am
Take a look at the Brilliant Butterflies' learning this week...
Maths
In Maths this week, we have been learning to subitise . This is where you say how many objects you can see, up to 5, without counting them. We used a dice and looked at the pattern of the dots. We moved onto looking at random arrangements of dots on a ladybird. We finished the week off by playing a game. The teacher hid an amount of cars under a sheet, revealed them and then covered them over again. We had to say how many cars we could see. - Well done to Brooklyn who could say the correct amount each time :)
English
In English this week, we have been learning all about Autumn. We looked at a PowerPoint about the signs of Autumn and then went on an Autumn walk to see what we could find. We noticed the leaves had changed colour and started to fall from the trees. We also noticed how much colder it felt! Later on in the week, we enjoyed reading the story 'The Leaf Theif' This is all about a squirrel who thinks somebody is stealing his leaves. After investigating who this could be, he discovered it was the wind blowing the Autumn leaves from the trees! Well done to Kaylan who worked this out!
Topic
This week, we read the story 'Leaf Man' The author uses Autumn leaves to create pictures of different animals. We used this as inspiration to create our own pictures using the leaves we collected on our Autumn walk.
Thank you to the parents/carers who came to our first 'Stay and Play' session. It was lovely to see so may of you. The children had a great time :)
