Maths

In Maths this week, we have been learning about ‘parts’ and ‘whole’. We looked at different foods and sorted them into hoops, deciding if they were ‘parts’ or ‘whole’. We then moved onto numbers and looked at the number 5 as a 'whole' number. We used beanbags to split into two parts. We found different ways of doing this and understood that the whole number was always 5. Well done to Connor for finding different ways to make 5 :) 

English

In English this week, we have been reading the book  ‘The Little Red Hen’. We listened to the story and talked about what the characters were doing. We looked at the speech bubbles and learnt that these show what the character's are saying. We tried to use interesting voices whilst reading a part the character was saying. On Tuesday, we had a go at writing a sentence from the story. Margot tried very hard to apply her phonics, learnt in our daily phonic sessions, to her writing. :) 

Topic 

This week, as part of our ‘Puppets and Pop Ups’ topic, we looked at images of different puppets. We discussed what the puppets showed and the stories they could tell.  We discovered the different ways the puppets can be moved.
