Butterflies Summer 2 Week 3

Date: 20th Jun 2024 @ 9:12am

This week, we have been exploring our sub topic 'Splash'

The Butterflies explored the story 'Clean up' which follows a very excited little girl who is going on holiday to Jamaica to visit her Grandparents. When they take her for a day at the beach, she is horrified with the amount of rubbish covering the sand! Sadly, she finds a baby turtle tangled in plastic and realises something must be done. She decides to gather lots of people to become a 'Clean Up Crew' They all work together to give the beach a 'Clean Up' As a class we talked about different ways to describe the beach. Well done to Eliza for thinking of great adjectives!

This generated lots of discussion about what we should do with our rubbish. The children have been extra vigilent this week in ensuring all rubbish is put in the bin! :)

In Maths, we have been revisiting addition. We explored different ways of answering addition questions. We learnt how to count on from the bigger number and then looked at using a numberline. Vlad worked really hard to learn this and was able to use these new methods well.

We looked closely at our class globe and identified where we live and where Jamaica is. We talked about how we would travel to get there.

A huge thank you to all of the parents and carers who attended the school fair. We really appreciate your support with these events. :)
