Butterflies Summer 2 Week 5
Date: 3rd Jul 2024 @ 12:38pm
Another busy week of learning for the Butterflies!
In Literacy, we have been exploring non-fiction texts about Sea Creatures. The children have really enjoyed learning lots of interesting facts. We found out that octopuses have three hearts, male seahorses give birth and some species of starfish have up to forty arms! Brody wanted to further his learning by researching more facts using Google. This was a great idea. We all learnt so much more!
In Maths, Reception have been learning to count in 5s. We used the 100 square to splat the numbers we need to say when counting in 5s. Well done to Kolt, who quickly spotted the pattern in the numbers and was able to use this to say what number we would splat next. We moved onto counting objects in groups of 5. The children were amazed at how quickly they could count 100 objects!
The children have been busy making jellyfish in the craft area. They cut out and decorated the body before adding different coloured strips of tissue paper to represent the tentacles. These are proudly displayed on the Learning Journey wall. :)
There has been lots of excitement around getting ready for our school trip to National Forest Adventure Farm. We looked at the website and talked about what we might see and do there. We can't wait!! :))
