Clever Koalas - Autumn 1 - Week 3

A FANTASTIC well done to Julia for achieving Star of the Week this week! Mrs Fox, Mrs Dewsbury and Mrs McIlroy have been immensely proud of Julia since she started in the Koalas.  She has been displaying excellent leadership skills in different areas of the curriculum and her confidence has really been shining. Congratulations!

Another congratulations to Sienna for her brilliant handwriting when publishing her biography this week, see her great work below.

We finished last week with a very enjoyable Shang Dynasty day, the children loved our morning of creating a Chinese Dragon to display in our classroom. All the koalas were completely immersed in their art work and created an amazing piece of work – see a photo below of the dragon now on our wall, a big thank you to Mrs Fox and her creative skills at getting this on the wall!

Steve then led our workshop in the afternoon which consisted of a range of drama working through the history of the Shang Dynasty. Steven, Drake and Chester were definitely the stand out actors and showed a wide range of facial expressions!! Thea, Cora, Katie, Finley, Casey-Leigh and Joseph were fantastic historians and were always ready with their hands up to answer questions. One more well done to Julia and Ruth for demonstrating super directing skills!

In English this week we have been publishing our biographies to put in our Writing Folders, these are all looking ever so neat and all the children have worked hard to improve their handwriting.

The koalas have been exploring numbers all week, including prime numbers, factors and square numbers. They have revisited these from prior learning and have impressed us all with the number facts they have known. Keep it up koalas!
