Clever Koalas - Autumn 1 - Week 4
Date: 3rd Oct 2024 @ 7:40pm
A huge well done to Cora for being awarded the Star of the Week this week. Cora is exceptional in class, she always follows instructions the first time she is asked and is pushing herself to know more. Congratulations Cora for giving 100% to everything you do!
Star Writer this week goes to Francesca for her excellent piece of work during a Topic lesson and working hard on her handwriting – see her work below.
This week has been quite an exciting one in Maths as the Koalas have been learning a new skill – short multiplication. The teachers were looking forward to teaching it and the children did not disappoint! Everyone listened so well during the teaching and worked hard to learn and practise this new strategy, Mrs Dewsbury was so impressed she gave everyone a point for their excellent focus and determination to do well!! Koalas you were superstars!!
In English we have been completing some refresher grammar lessons ready for writing our own narratives next week. The children have revisited how to write direct speech in their work and to ensure that they are using a range of speech verbs – not said! They have also created a wide range of similes to help expand their description skills and engage their reader.
In Spanish we learnt how to say the 12 months! The children’s pronunciation is developing well and their confidence is growing when speaking by themselves in Spanish in front of the whole class - a huge well done to Taylor, Sienna, Lana, Jamie and Finley for doing that today.
Well done for a fantastic week Clever Koalas! Keep up all the great work!
A reminder that it is our class assembly next Wednesday (9th Oct) please join us at 9am in the hall to celebrate what the children have been learning.
