Clever Koalas - Autumn 1 - Week 7

Firstly, a huge congratulations to Emmanuella for being awarded the Star of the Week this week. Emmanuella has been working extremely hard every week to practise her spellings and has been getting 8/8! She is focused in lessons and always shows good manners!  

Our Star writer this week is Kingsseal, well done for excellent handwriting in your narrative.  

We have completed our History project on the Shang Dynasty this week by planning and writing our own podcast! The children really enjoyed doing this and came up with some excellent questions to ask their guests, well done Koalas.  Next half term in Topic we will begin with the Science topic – Earth and Space by looking at the solar system, our Sun and the moon. 

In English this week we have been practising how to perform poetry. The children started by watching a range of performances and creating their own success criteria for the performances.  The koalas have absolutely loved working on their performances and we have seen some excellent expressions and gestures.  An special well done to Casey-Leigh and Francesca for writing and performing a poem they wrote themselves.  Please look at the fantastic photos below from Chester's, Rykie-Jai's and Caleb's performances, they alll used excellent facial expressions and Chester was brave enough to perform by himself!

Thank you for all your support during the first half term in Year 5! We hope you all have a fun and spooky October half term, hopefully a little restful too!
