Firstly, welcome back to Reigate Park for the new academic year of 2024 and a BIG warm welcome to Year 5!!
Mrs Dewsbury, Mrs McIlroy and Mrs Fox are all super excited for the year ahead including how much new learning we are going to partake in and how much fun we are going to have exploring new topics.
A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Logan for achieving Star of the Week on his first week in the Clever Koalas. Logan has been focusing well on all areas in his new learning and contributing to class discussions. Well done for a superb start to the year!!
Another congratulations to Casey-Leigh for receiving Star Writer of the week and producing a fantastic fact file on Fu Hao - see her fantastic work below!
During our first week in the Clever Koalas class we have been learning all about each other. Mrs Fox knows the children well already however, during a game one afternoon she also found some new interesting facts out about our children along with Mrs Dewsbury and Mrs McIlroy. The children have also decided some Class Rules which they would like to stick to in our classroom, mainly focussed on respect and kindness which were excellent to hear.
In English we have started learning all about the features used in a biography and researching all about Fu Hao to support us when writing our own. We have also been reading her diary in Whole Class Reading to learn even more about her.
Next Friday we are welcoming a Shang Dynasty workshop into Reigate Park to immerse Year 5 fully into the topic and culture all around it, we cannot wait to learn more!
In P.E we have begun our Bollywood dance topic, during our first lesson the children worked in groups and choreographed their own short dance. They then performed these in front of the whole class, Mrs Dewsbury and Mrs Fox were blown away at the children's creativity and courage! Please ask them to show you their 'shrugs' and 'lightbulb' moves at home!
