Clever Koalas - Autumn 2 - Week 1

Hello! Welcome back to the second half term of Year 5, the time seems to be flying at the moment!!

Firstly, a huge congratulations to Harriet or achieving Star Writer this week and working ever so hard on their handwriting! Star of the Week will be back next week!

The children had been enjoying their first week back after all of their Halloween and Bonfire celebrations, we have started lots of new topics, which they were very excited to tell you all about.

The Koalas have begun with Science this week - looking at Earth and Space, they all thoroughly enjoyed getting outside on the field and creating our solar system. Different children were acting as the planets and orbiting around the sun. They also really enjoyed the planet song, please watch this at home and sing along!  Outer Space: "We are the Planets," The Solar System Song by StoryBots | Netflix Jr.

In English, sticking with our Space theme, the children are going to be writing a Non-Chronological Report all about Space, using the knowledge they have learnt in our Science lessons. They are writing this report for the astronaut Tim Peake after receiving a letter from the National Space Centre asking for their help.

Everyone is also very excited for both our PE topics this half term! On Thursday we are going to completing Gymnastics in the hall, we are hoping to use lots of equipment and show off all the different skills we have when performing our original sequences.  On a Friday we will be playing Hockey outside, we are going to start with the key skills needed to play well and accurately, before moving on to playing a range of games.
