Clever Koalas - Autumn 2 - Week 2

Date: 14th Nov 2024 @ 4:12pm

CONGRATULATIONS to Ruth for achieving Star of the Week, she was awarded the star this week due to her always putting 100% effort into her learning. Ruth has increased her sefl confidence a lot since September and is now participating in all class discussions and is always willing to 'have a go'. Well done Ruth!

Well done to our Star Writer this week, Jamie has been working exceptionally hard on his handwriting and joining all of his letters.

Reigate Park also had their first Tea with SLT this week, teachers select children to attend who continually give 100% to all that they do and consistently follow the school rules. A huge well done to Julia for being the first Koala to be invited by Mrs Ratcliff.

The Koalas have continued to throughly enjoy their learning on Earth and Space this week.  One area we have been learning all about are the eight phases of the moon, the children created some excellent diagrams showing these in our Science lessson.  We have also been reading about black holes in Whole Class Reading and trying to comprehend the size of them – which is extremely difficult! Please see two fantastic examples of black holes drew from a description we read, well done to Byron and KC for these excellent drawings.

We have continued to develop our gymnastic skills this week in the hall, an area of PE which some children show excellent skills in. On Friday’s in PE we have a sports coach teaching hockey and the skills needed to be successful.  As the temperature is continuing to drop please send the children with gloves if possible – their hands got very cold last week holding the hockey sticks.

At the end of this week we are taking part in Children In Need, with the hope to raise some money for this charity, everyone is able to wear their PJs to schools and we are completing some activities in class. We will also be designing our own Children In Need t-shirt for a school competition, fingers crossed a Koala wins!
