Clever Koalas - Autumn 2 - Week 3
Date: 21st Nov 2024 @ 9:00pm
Firstly, lets begin by congratulating Jamie on being awarded the Star of the Week this week. Jamie has been working ever so hard in his English lessons, particularly when writing his report on Space and our Solar System. Jamie has also been participating more in class discussions and making some excellent contributions. Well done!!
Our Star writer this week is Caleb, a big well done for concentrating and working hard on your handwriting.
In Maths this week the Koalas have been learning how to order and convert fractions. This has proven to be VERY tricky, especially when the denominators are different! The children have been using fraction walls to help their understanding and so that they can see the fractions right in front of them. Please look at the interactive fraction wall on the link below and explore different fractions and their equivalents.

In English we have started to write our non-chronological reports, the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about space and writing down the most interesting information that they have found out. We have used our learning from Whole Class Reading and Science lessons to support our knowledge, the children have been 100% engaged in this Topic and have been able to teach Mrs Dewsbury, Mrs Fox and Mrs McIlroy all some new facts. We are so pleased with how much joy and interest has been sparked by this Topic and the number of questions which have arisen from it. Well done to all of the Koalas for their enthusiasm and focus during these lessons.
Last week we all enjoyed coming to school in our PJs to support Children in Need, we completed several activities during the afternoon including a competition to design a Pudsey t-shirt. The winners were announced in assembly this week, a huge congratulations to Drake for being the winning design in the Clever Koalas.
We hope that you are all keeping warm and have managed to get some time outside this week to enjoy the snow! Or that you have enjoyed it from a window with a warm drink in your hands!
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
