Clever Koalas - Autumn 2 - Week 6
Date: 12th Dec 2024 @ 7:56pm
Well done to Steven for achieving Star of the Week this week! Steven is one of the politeness members of the Koalas, he is always well mannered towards staff and his peers. Steven also thinks carefully about his learning and will often ask inquisitive questions about his learning. Congratulations Steven!
Our Star writer this week is Katie, well done for producing a fantastic report all about Space and working hard to improve your handwriting.
In English this week the children have started to write plan their on setting description – we have used the book ‘The Sea of Tranquility’ by Mark Haddon to provide us with ideas and we are writing some excellent descriptions of travelling to and exploring the moon. We will be sending these to Mark Haddon once we have written them up next week and cannot wait to see what he thinks.
During our BSL lesson this week we focused on learning Christmas signs and tested our knowledge of them with a game of bingo, the children thoroughly enjoyed this! Thank you to Sienna and Julia for putting some BSL Christmas posters up around the school to share these signs with everyone.
We started a songwriting unit in Music last week, where we learnt all about the different parts of a song, including the chorus, verse and hook. On Thursday this week the children worked in small groups to being writing their own songs! We began with focusing on the hook – this is a short lyric or piece of music which gets in the listeners head to make them remember the song. Some children thought this was going to be super tricky, however everyone worked well together and came up with some excellent ideas.
Christmas activities have continued this week with the choir singing in the community on Thursday morning. Well done to Thea, Joseph, Cora, Lana, Byron, Ruth, Emmanuella and Drake for representing the Koalas and Reigate Park with such excellent behaviour and voices! Mrs Sanchez was very proud of everyone who went!
On Friday afternoon we are going to be watching the EYFS and KS1 dress rehearsal of their nativity, we cannot wait to see all of our younger siblings and friends do a great job.
Have a fantastic weekend, see you next week for the last week of the Autumn term!
