Clever Koalas - Spring 1 - Week 1

Happy 2025!

Welcome back to school everyone! We all hope that you had an absolutely fantastic break and enjoyed lots of time with your family and friends.  It was great to welcome the children back this week and hear all about their time off school.

Congratulations to Zaiden for being our first Star Writer this year! Zaiden completed an excellent setting description before Christmas and worked ever so hard on his handwriting, well done!

We started 2025 on Monday with a new PE topic – badminton! The children thoroughly enjoyed started this topic displaying some excellent skills already and it is only week 1! Next week during our PE slot on a Friday we will be starting Forest School – thank you to those who have bought in their permission slips.  Please return this as soon as possible if you have not already so everyone can take part next Friday.

In Whole Class Reading this week we have started to read Farm Boy by Michael Morpurgo.  The Koalas have enjoyed the story so far and are working hard to understand the range of language used – asking for explanations if they are not sure – well done everyone!

In Maths we have been focusing on place value and negative numbers. The Koalas have been learning all about thermometers and temperatures – which has been very topical this week with the minus temperatures outside!
