Clever Koalas - Spring 1 - Week 2

CONGRATULATIONS to Byron for achieving the first Star of the Week in 2025!  Byron has had an excellent start to the year, he participates with enthusiasm in all class discussions and works hard to always do his best!

A huge well done to Finley for receiving Star Writer this week, he has been working hard to improve his handwriting!

WELL DONE to Emmanuella for being the first person in the Koalas to be presented with a certificate in assembly for the biggest improvement in accuracy on TT Rockstars out of everyone in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6! 

A new competition we have started this year across Year 5 is an accelerated reader challenge! Each week the Penguins and Koalas go head to head to see which class can complete the most quizzes on the books they have read. The winning class each Friday will have a prize chosen by the children – for example: 15 minutes extra playtime, points, inside games, trim trial time. The Koalas won last week – WHOOP, WHOOP and we had time on the trim trail on Wednesday afternoon this week.

We have started our forest school this week – thank you to everyone for returning the permission forms and bringing in a spare set of wellies / trainers. The children loved being outside, playing some games and exploring the environment.

In English this week we have started to map out a diary which we are writing for Mrs Sanderson and Mrs Girling. The children are writing it using inspiration from Farm Boy by Michael Morpurgo, we cannot wait to see the published pieces.

Myself, Mrs McIlory and Mrs Fox would also like to say a huge well done to everyone for their absolutely fantastic effort this week! Everyone has been very proud of themselves for their kind behaviour and putting 100% into their learning.
