Clever Koalas - Spring 1 - Week 5

Date: 6th Feb 2025 @ 4:38pm

A BIG well done to Lana for achieving Star of the Week this week.  Lana has been working extremely hard in all lessons the whole of this half term.  Her attitude towards her learning has improved significantly and she is making excellent contributions to class discussions!  Well done Lana, you truly deserve Star of the Week this week.

Our Star Writer this week is Cora, she has been working hard to join her letters correctly and has made an excellent start to her newspaper report.

In Maths this week the Koalas have been exploring reflection and translation – reflection at the start of the week went well and everyone enjoyed using mirrors to help them with their work.  We then moved onto translation which everyone definitely found a bit trickier.  This is the first time that we have looked at translating shapes and many different skills are used to do this correctly – well done to everyone for your perseverance and listening well to the instructions given.

This week across the country it has been Children’s Mental Health Week – with the theme being “Know yourself, grow yourself”.  At the start of this week we did some work on what mental health is and why it is important to look after it.  The Koalas discussed different strategies they could use to help their mental health and to help themselves grow.  Everyone created a tree with the roots representing a range of different feelings they may experience and the leaves displaying a wide range of ways they could help minimise and deal with their emotions.  The trees created were fantastic – the winning design was Casey-Leigh’s and this will be displayed in school.  Another well done to our runner ups Thea and Lakeshia, please see their work below!

Have a fantastic weekend, remember that we are only in school 4 days next week as we break up on Thursday 13th February.

Class Attendance = 94.51%
