Clever Koalas - Spring 2 - Week 1
Date: 28th Feb 2025 @ 9:20am
Well done to Julia for being awarded Star Writer this week! She wrote a an excellent newspaper report and worked extremely hard on her handwrting, congratulations Julia.
In Whole Class Reading this week the Koalas have been reading a non-fiction text all about the human body and how cells help our body work. We have completed a range of activities and the children have been very enthusiastic about reading out loud in front of each other. Good work Koalas!
We have started a new topic in English where we are learning all about the features used to create a chronological report. The children have read a report called “Humpback whales return after almost becoming extinct” and used this to support them when identifying the features.
This week will be our last week of forest school – we will be building a fire and sharing a hot drink together. The Koalas have all loved spending some time outside, especially the den building activity, which proved quite tricky with the wind, however we saw lots of great team work, communication and resilience.
Spring 2 half term also brings the start of a new menu at school and some new kitchen staff. The feedback from the children has been positive and it seems that they have been enjoying the new options!
For PE on a Friday afternoon this half term we will be working with a sports coach, I will let you all know how the first session went next week.
We hope you all had an excellent half term!
