Clever Koalas - Spring 2 - Week 6

CONGRATULATIONS to Casey-Leigh for receiving Star of the Week this week – Casey-Leigh always works hard and concentrates well in class, however over the last few weeks she has been putting extra effort into her reading skills, particularly her inference. Casey-Leigh gives fantastic explanations when giving her reasons for her answers and using the text for evidence – well done Casey-Leigh!  

Well done to Lana for being awarded Star Writer this week - she has written an excellent setting description using the true story – ‘The boy who grew a forest’ and really focused on improving her handwriting.

This week we started our Shakespeare work on The Tempest – we had a special visitor come into school on Wednesday to introduce the topic.  She began with the main concept of the story and used different story telling and acting techniques to help the children understand the play.  We continued this throughout Thursday and Friday with Miss Meredith leading the whole of Year 5.

Earlier in the week we completed our Spanish topic on The Olympics.  The Koalas finished with an assessment testing their Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing in Spanish, well done for everyone’s super effort!

On Friday this week we will have our last lesson with the Sports Coach playing tag rugby.  The Koalas have really enjoyed learning the rules of tag rules and practising their skills in small games.  Only passing the ball backwards has been one rule which they have found tricky to remember, but they are doing much better!

Thank you to all the adults who were able to attend our class assembly on Wednesday morning, the children felt nervous at the start of the day but were super confident during the assembly and were delighted to share all of their work with you - especially their art journals. 

We hope everyone has a fantastic Easter break and we look forward to seeing you all later in April for Summer Term!
