Perfect Penguins Autumn 2- Week 2

Date: 15th Nov 2024 @ 8:34am

Maths
This week in Maths, we have revisited short multiplication. On Tuesday, we built on our long multiplication skills by learning how to multiply 3 and 2 digit numbers by a 2 digit number. This was tricky at first, but it got easier with practice. Later on in the week, we revisited short division, with and without remainders.

English
In English this week, we have continued our learning all about Space. This week, we have learned about parenthesis, relative clauses and colons. At the end of the week, we started to plan and write our non-chronological reports, all about space.

Other Subjects
This week in Topic, we continued our learning all about Earth and Space. At the begining of the week, we explored why we have day, night and seasons. Using a globe and a torch, we looked at how the Earth turns on its axis when it orbits the sun, and how this creates day and night, and also why we need time zones. Later in the week, we explored the phase of the moon. At the weekend, have a look at the moon in the night sky, do you know what phase it is in?

In PSHE this week we celebrated anti-bullying week and even wore odd socks on Tuesday. The theme of anti-bullying week this year is “Choose Respect”. We talked about what respect is and why it is important. As a class, we build a respect web by saying something respectful to someone and passing a ball of wool on, until we were all linked. By cutting the web at the end, we demonstrated what happens when someone says something disrespectful and breaks the web- Penguins class found this very sad.
