Spring 1 Week 2 Talented T-Rex
Date: 15th Jan 2025 @ 4:51pm
Take a look at our learning this week🦖...
Maths
This week in Maths, we have been focusing on addition and subtraction. Specifically, we have been adding and subtracting a single number with/from a two-digit number. To help us with this, we started the week by using physical resources like counters and number lines, and we also looked at pictures to represent the numbers. As the week went on, we moved on to using number lines and solving problems. We even tried our hand at balancing equations!
English
In English, we’ve been focusing on exclamation marks and when to use them. We discussed that exclamation marks are used when we feel a big emotion, like surprise, excitement, or fear. For example, if you saw something amazing or unexpected, you might say, "Wow!" or "That's incredible!"
The children then had a go at using exclamation marks in their own writing. They wrote about some of London’s famous landmarks, making sure to include exclamatory sentences to show their excitement. It was fantastic to see the T-Rexes getting so creative with their writing, adding emotion to their sentences with exclamation marks
Topic
In our Topic lessons, we’ve been exploring the weather and the four seasons. This week, the children have been monitoring and tracking the weather using a weather diary. Each day, they’ve been recording the weather, looking for patterns and noticing how it changes throughout the week. This is helping them understand how the weather works and how it changes with the seasons.
We also continued our exploration of London landmarks. The children have been learning about important buildings in London, like Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, and the Houses of Parliament.
