Spring 1 Week 2
Date: 18th Jan 2024 @ 9:15am
In Literacy, we have read the story of ‘Peace at Last’. The story follows a restless Daddy bear around the house as he tries to find a place to sleep as Mummy bear is snoring. The children were able to show a good understanding of the story and provide explanations using ‘because’ for why Daddy could not find a suitable place. Gracie-Mae told me ‘the kitchen was too loud because of the tap dripping’. An excellent reason! We then went on to consider other night-time noises and created a list of our wonderful ideas.
This week in Maths, Reception have been looking at ‘time’. We started our week by using the big yellow clocks and introduced ‘o’clock’ times. The children then had opportunities to make given times on their own individual clocks. Louis was quick to spot the minute hand must be on twelve to make it an o’ clock time, fantastic!
The children have really enjoyed craft this week which involved designing their own bespoke PJs. The Bears were able to incorporate a range of craft skills including twists, fringing and layering with mosaic squares. Another successful week, well done Bears!
