Maths
This week in Maths, we have been learning the column method for solving addition and subtraction questions. We have been using the same method to solve reasoning and problem-solving questions. The children have worked hard on presenting their working out neatly in their books!

English
In English this week, we have been learning about direct speech and how to form speech sentences in preparation for writing their own narratives. Children have been learning about the correct punctuation to use when writing speech and have been writing their own speech sentences linking with our texts from topic and whole class reading lessons.

Topic

In Topic lessons this week, the children have been learning more about fossils, how they are formed and why they are a significant part of history. Towards the end of the week, the children will be learning about the activity of tectonic plates by looking at world maps and completing investigations.

Star of the week - Frank (Frank has put a huge amount of effort into making his volcano, as part of our Topic homework).

Writer of the week - Isabelle (Isabelle has written some beautiful sentences this week, in our English lessons).
