Spring 1 Week 4

The Super Sharks have done more wonderful work this week...

In maths, we have been learning about money. We have learnt how to count amounts using our knowledge of tens and ones. We also made amounts to buy items from Miss Pearce's cake shop! We had to make the exact amount and challenged ourselves to find more than one way of paying for the same item. 

We have started a new unit of work in English this week. On Monday, we read a shocking news story and learnt about the damage plastic pollution is causing to the oceans and sea creatures. We have decided to write letters to the mayor of Whitby to inform them about the problem and make suggestions of how they can help. We have read lots of different information texts to gather facts to include within our letters.

We have been historians in topic this week and explored how physical and human features in Whitby have changed over time. We have also learnt about the life of Captain James Cook and written factfiles about him.
