Spring 1 - Week 4
Date: 2nd Feb 2024 @ 9:04am
Take a look at the Marvellous Meerkat’s learning this week...
Maths
In Maths this week, the year 6 children have been learning about position and direction. At the beginning of the week, the children began by recapping how to read coordinates from a grid. The children used the rule 'along the corridor and up the stairs' to successfully identify coordinates of shapes. At the end of the week, the children used their understanding of coordinates to translate (move) shapes along a coordinate plane (grid) and to reflect shapes across the x and y axis.
English
In English this week, the children have begun a new writing unit. In Year 6, we are currently learning how to write a persuasive letter. This week, the children have been exposed to different persuasive letter examples and have identified the features needed to write a good letter.
We have linked our persuasive writing to our topic 'Frozen Kingdoms', the children will be writing letters to the United Nations, to persuade them to help combat climate change before our frozen kingdoms of the Arctic and Antarctica are destroyed.
Star Of the Week- Whole class (for showing a continuous improvement in behaviour)
Star Writer- Naya (Naya has tried super hard with her handwriting this week)
