Spring 2 Week 4
Date: 21st Mar 2024 @ 8:26am
In Literacy, the children have been reading the story of ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’. This is a funny story about how a boy chooses to use his colouring crayons to draw different pictures e.g blue crayon is used for oceans and pink for hearts and princesses. Using the book to explore colour this week, the children then chose their favourite colour and where they might spot it in the classroom.
In Maths, we have been looking at ‘Tally Charts’. We started the week by thinking about our favourite fruits at snack time. Each child voted for their favourite fruit and we made a small mark to show each child’s choice. Louis spotted the most popular fruit with the majority of marks was apples. Well spotted Louis! Later in the week we then started to choose our favourite colours. At this point we introduced the diagonal mark when we reached five and the children had a go at recording independently.
Thank you for your support with our ‘BSL Parental Engagement’ session. It was a wonderful learning opportunity for all and a great way for the children to showcase their signing capabilities with colours, greetings and feeling words. Well done Bears. Keep shining bright!
