Spring 2 Week 5

This week Reception have been learning all about Chinese New Year and their Chinese zodiac sign.  The children found out lots of fascinating facts through quizzes, web searches and books. The Bears learnt: red is a sign of good luck, 2024 is the year of the dragon and oranges are considered good luck.  These facts were used in our write up on this colourful celebration.   Casey told the Bears she celebrates Chinese New Year and "has bought a new dress with flowers on it".  How exciting!   To finish the week the children created a concertina dragon.  They enjoyed making these and afterwards we had our very own mini dragon parade to a 'Kung hei fat choi' music video.

Also this week we have focussed on Internet Safety Day and Mental Health week.  The children have been talking about what makes them feel proud and have been drawing pictures to show their examples.
