Spring 2 Week 5

Date: 27th Mar 2025 @ 10:42pm

Our Key Stage Two children had a very exciting afternoon today, with a visit from Jodie Ounsley, who is famous for having played rugby for England and Great Britain and now being Fury on TV’s Gladiators.

Jodie was born profoundly deaf and has a cochlear implant.  She was very interested in the technology that our deaf children have in school compared to equipment she used to use. She met with our older deaf pupils and BSL Ambassadors and was very impressed by all of the children’s BSL skills when signing the song at the start of the assembly.

Jodie has just published her first book “Keep smashing it” and she shared her top tips for being confident and achieving our dreams.  She also answered questions from each of the Key Stage Two classes, explaining about her reasons for writing her book, experiences as a gladiator and how her deafness has impacted her.  Jodie was a fantastic role model for all of our pupils.
