Spring Term Week 3
Date: 14th Mar 2024 @ 8:21am
Well, it has been yet another action-packed week in Reception!
In Literacy, the children have been reading the story of ‘Dear Dinosaur’. The story follows the communications between Max and a T-Rex who lives at the local museum. Max is lucky enough to receive postcards, emails and letters from his new friend. Using the book as a hook for our learning the children investigated the key features of a letter and had a go and writing some questions of their own to the dinosaur. Cienna thought of some great questions including ‘Why do dinosaurs have such big teeth?’ A very thoughtful question!
In Maths, we have been looking at addition. We started the week by counting two groups of beanbags into sorting circles. The children then added these together and checked their answer using a number line. After this the Bears had a look at number sentences and the signs they could see including add and equals. The children used the number lines again to find their total.
Thank you for your support with our ‘Kite Parental Engagement’ session. It was fantastic to see the adults and children collaborating. The children loved designing and flying their colourful kites in our early years garden. Well done Bears, a memorable week!
