Spring Week 5
Date: 28th Mar 2024 @ 9:36am
On Monday we were visited by the Vicar and his friends from Mackworth St. Francis Church. It was a lovely service with some very catchy songs and lots of eggs to find with clues about the Easter story. What a nice way to start the week!
In Literacy, the children have been reading the story of ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear’. The children really enjoyed this rhyming book, looking at all of the different coloured animals. Using the book as inspiration for our writing, the children had a go at some rhyming sentences. Well done to all the Bears for using fantastic phonics this week e.g. Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see? I see a red bird looking at me!
In Maths, we have been looking at ‘Subtraction’. We started the week by counting our friends into hoops and physically taking some children away. The Bears then made the takeaway sign with a horizontal finger. Well-done to Harry who was able to remember the subtraction sign from last time! By mid-week the children were able to touch count pictures and take some away. The children then had a go at answering some subtraction number sentences independently.
Thank you for your support with making some fantastic Easter bonnets. It was wonderful to see such fabulous creations to celebrate this special time. Enjoy the Easter break Bears you have worked so hard this half term!
