Starfish Autumn 1, Week 4

This week in Maths, we have been learning how to add and subtract using tens and ones. We learnt how to partition the numbers, check the ones to see if they exceed 10 and need exchanging and then adding the tens and ones together to find our answer. Aurora and Elsie worked independently to find the answers.

In English, we wrote our story up in neat. Ensuring that our letters were formed correctly and that we started our sentences with Capital letters. On Wednesday, we started our new unit of English. We found the features of a non-chronological report and identified what a heading and subheading was.    

In topic this week, we have been learning about the differences between Neil and Christopher Columbus. Did you know, Neil had satellites to help him navigate to the moon whereas Christopher had to use a map to help him find his way. We were shocked to find out that Christopher Columbus managed to sail to the Americas with no technology and a ship made from wood!
