Summer 1 Week 1

We have had a wonderful first week back! 

This week in Maths, we are learning to double. The children rolled a dice and put that amount of cubes on one side of the butterfly. Arden counted out the same amount on the other side. He was then able to count the total to say the double - Well done Arden :) We continued our learning on doubles by playing a game of 'doubling machine' The children put different amounts in the doubling machine to see the answer. Sometimes the doubling machine broke if we didn't put the  same amount in each side. The children were very good at noticing the mistake! Well done Butterflies :) 

In Literacy, the Butterflies are exploring the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'  The story follows a caterpillar from a tiny egg all the way through to it becoming a beautiful butterfly. Blake noticed how the caterpillar grew bigger each day and was very excited to see it change into a butterfly. 

To introduce our new topic 'Sunshine and Sunflowers', Reception have a very important job to do - we are raising butterflies :) They have arrived as tiny caterpillars. We will be watching them grow and change everyday. They have already doubled in size!
