Summer 1 Week 2
Date: 25th Apr 2024 @ 8:33am
Another busy week in Reception!
In Maths we have been learning to halve. We started by 'halving' a biscuit with a friend and then moved onto sharing an amount of cubes with a partner. We remembered the rhyme 'one for me, one for you' to ensure we shared these equally. Well done to Michael who noticed that he had a different amount of cubes to his friends. He knew to share them again to make sure he was sharing them equally.
Butterflies have enjoyed exploring our accompanying topic 'Shadows and Reflections'. This week's Literacy story 'Shadow' is all about a boy who discovers his shadow, He notices that when he twirls, his shadow twirls. When he jumps, his shadow jumps. We went outside to find our own shadows and loved watching it copy us! We then used this as inspiration for our writing. Arthur tried really hard to hear the sounds he needed. We are very proud of you - Well done :)
Thank you to all the grown-ups who joined us on our bug hunt in the forest. The children had a wonderful time and were talking about the different bugs, that they found, all throughout the day!
Our caterpillars a growing at a rapid speed! They are beginning to crawl towards the lid to settle into their 'J' shape. Well done Reception for being great caterpillar carers!
