Summer 1 Week 3
Date: 2nd May 2024 @ 8:27am
What a week and the sun has made an appearance!
In Literacy, Reception have been reading ‘Shark in the Park’. The story follows a young boy hunting for sharks in his local park. The Bears really enjoyed finding matching rhyming words and were able to join in with the repeated refrains using excitable voices. Fantastic! With the sun finally coming out to play, the children were able to find their shadows (linked to last weeks Literacy focus) and had great fun trying to make animal shadows. Omar did a great job of trying to show a shark!
In Maths, the children have been learning all about odd and even numbers. We started the week using sorting hoops and practical objects. The Bears then used the rhyme ‘one for me and one for you’ to sort the objects equally into the two hoops. If an item was left over, the number was odd and if it split equally it was even. We then watched a number blocks episode which showed odd numbers as having an extra one on top and even numbers with a flat top. Using this advice we then sorted numicon pieces into odd and even circles. Some of us even had time to do a seaside themed odd and even investigation. Super job Bears!
The children are continuing to show Mrs Walker how good they are at BSL. The children can now count to 10 using sign language. Keep up the hard work as always Bears!
Enjoy the long bank holiday weekend. I will see you on Tuesday 7th May.
