Summer 1 week 4
Date: 9th May 2024 @ 8:28am
Forest school this week was very exciting! Half of the class had a go at whittling. They listened really carefully to Mrs Harrison and concentrated hard, as they made a stick into a pencil or a wand. The rest of the children were tasked to create woodland pictures using natural resources found in our forest area. The lesson took an unexpected turn, when a small of group of children became archeologists. They unearthed a piece of earthen ware. This inspired the class to do some research into what the school grounds used to be used for. Watch this space, as we will let you know what we found out later this term! In maths, we have been putting our rounding knowledge into practise, as we estimate when solving adding and subtraction problems. We've explored life as a Roman soldier living in Vindolanda this week. The children thought about what it would have been like living up in a Roman fort, miles from anywhere. PSHE this week was thinking about stereotypes and asking why we have these in society. We started our new topic this week in English. We are looking at news reports. We know our 5ws - why not ask the children what these are!
Well done to our Star of the Week: It's the Monkeys!
