Summer 1 Week 4

Date: 10th May 2024 @ 1:43pm

Wow! What a busy week we have had in the Butterflies!

In Literacy, we have explored a non-fiction text to teach us about the life cycle of a butterfly. We enjoyed exploring the different features of a non-fiction text. For example, contents page and  glossary. Well done to Joel who was able to say that we could use the contents page to choose a particular thing that we wanted to read about. We added to our butterfly diary and wrote about their transition into a chyrsalis.

In Maths, we have been recapping number bonds to 5 and moved onto to number bonds to 10. We used our fingers to help us with this. For example, to find what goes with 2 to make 10, we put 2 fingers down and counted how many were up. We then recorded this as a number sentence 2 + 8 = 10. We repeated this for all the number bonds to 10. Kolt was fab at this! He was able to mentally recall the different number bonds - Well done Kolt!

We are really excited to announce that we now have 4 healthy butterflies!! We have observed them in the net throughout the week and we will release them into the wild during our Forest School session. Well done to the Brilliant Butterflies for being great butterfly raisers!
