Talented T-Rex Autumn 2 Week 4
Date: 27th Nov 2024 @ 7:19pm
Take a look at our learning this week🦖...
Maths
This week in Maths, we’ve been focusing on subtraction. The children have been using both number lines and hundred squares to help them understand how to subtract. We’ve also introduced the concept of "bridging tens," where they learn how to subtract across ten. This has been a great challenge for the children, and they have been doing a wonderful job of practicing their skills with enthusiasm. Joel offered great explanations on how to count back and was able to find the right answer for every question asked- fab work Joel!
English
In English, we’ve been exploring the world of Non-fiction. The children have been reading fact files about the Year One teachers, which has been very enlightening! While reading, the children have been pulling out exciting adjectives to add to their own writing. They are now beginning to think about their own families and will soon start writing their own fact files about the people who are important to them. It’s been lovely seeing the children excited about the task and using their new vocabulary to describe the people they love.
Topic
In our Topic lessons, we’ve continued our exploration of colours. The children have been experimenting with primary and secondary colours and applying them in creative ways. They even created their own decorative pieces using their knowledge of colour mixing! We also started looking at portraits. The children had a go at drawing detailed portraits, focusing on individual details like eyes, noses, and mouths. For inspiration, we explored the work of various artists, and the children’s portraits are looking amazing.
Well done T-Rex Class.
