Maths

This week in Maths, we have been working hard on adding and subtracting missing numbers using our part, part whole model. The children were faced with the challenge of figuring out the missing part in addition and subtraction number sentences, which required them to combine their knowledge of subtraction and the concept of missing numbers. It was tricky at first, but the children persevered! Richard, had a very interesting observation, he said “that the biggest number (the starting number) is the whole number”. A great connection to our learning, Richard!

English

In English, the children have been busy writing facts about holidays and who is in their family as part of preparing for their fact files. They have enjoyed sharing their personal experiences and learning how to write about them in clear, factual sentences. Mrs Pericleous particularly enjoyed finding out where everyone has been for their holidays.  Who knew there were so many exciting places!

Topic

In our Topic lessons, we’ve continued with our ‘Funny Faces’ project. The children have been exploring portraiture, and each child completed a mini thumbnail piece, experimenting with different features and expressions. By the end of the week, we will be collaging our funny portraits.  We can’t wait to see the results!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the Christmas Fair.  It was wonderful to see so many families come together as part of our Reigate community. We hope you all had a great time!
