Week 1 Autumn 1 Woodpeckers

Welcome back to school everyone. The Wonderful Woodpeckers have had a super start to the Autumn term. We have started learning our times tables. Watch this space for some exciting inter-year competitions coming our way! Our topic this term is all about Invasions. We have looked at time-lines this week, finding out what happened in Britain when the Romans left and the Anglo-Saxons arrived. Dragons have been our focus in whole class reading and in English this week. We have been thinking about how we would look after a dragon. The children have been wondering where the dragon might live, because they wouldn't fit in our houses! In maths we have been learning to recognise, read, say and write numbers with 4 digits. We know how to compare numbers and can partition numbers with four digits too. We enjoyed learning our new school song this week too.
