Week 1 Spring 1 Woodpeckers
Date: 9th Jan 2025 @ 8:29am
Hello and welcome back to school after the Christmas break. This week has flown past. We launched our new topic and the children have been geographers, thinking about both the natural features around us and the ones made by human activity. The children started to look at the River Trent, using Google Earth. They also thought about the journey of a river from its source to the end. In English, they began thinking about writing a non-chronological report about rivers, linking to our topic. The children started the week being landscape artists, showing how rivers cut through the environment around them. In maths, they have learnt about place value and have compared and ordered numbers up to and including numbers with 4 digits. PSHE this week started a big discussion about jobs and wages. The children thought about what their dream job would be and considered whether this would earn them a good wage or not. In Spanish, we started to learn about La Cafeteria; we learnt to say food and drink items suchas unos churros, un bocadilla de queso and un zumo de naranja.
Woodpecker's weekly attendance: 95.2%
Star writer: Well done to Lexi for her fabulous use of subordinating conjunctions and clauses this week.
