Woodpeckers Spring 1 week 5
Date: 7th Feb 2025 @ 8:13am
This week we have been scientists and meteorologisits, looking at how the water cycle works. In class we set up an investigation to mimick the way water evaporates, condensates and then falls back down as precipitation. Have a look at our photos and work, to see what we found out. The children have also been busy planning and writing an adventure story, drawing on their knowledge of mountains and rivers. In maths, fractions has been our focus as we have revisited finding fractions of amounts this week. The children have learnt a useful rhyme to help them : Divide by the denominator and multiply by the numerator. In Spanish, we learnt how to pay for food and drinks in Spanish. In music, the children listened to music that had guitars in it. They thought about the differences between electric and acoustic guitars and also compared different band line ups.
Next week, we are very much looking forward to seeing you at 2.45pm on Wednesday 12th February for our showcase. We will come and greet you at the front door, by reception, when it is time to come in. The showcase will go on for about 30 minutes and is due to end at 3.15pm so that the children can return to class, to pack away for the end of the day.
Finally, if you have any clear plastic pots with lids or plastic jars with lids, could you send them in with the children by Thursday next week please. These do not have to be big. I have included a picture on this blog foryou to see sizing.
